Starting in April 2009 a new influenza virus caused a global pandemic that spread around the globe quickly and killed more than 10.000 people. As it contained a new combination of genes from swine, avian (bird), and human influenza viruses it was often referred to as “swine flu”, while it’s scientific name was H1N1.
During autumn medical practitioners were stormed with questions and requests for vaccination, while vaccinations were not available in sufficient numbers. For the the Website doktorkarl.de, homepage of a local physician I created a new section dedicated to the H1N1 pandemic, including content, regular updates and embedded videos, to relief the practice from many patient calls.
